Old Testament Interpretation introduces students to the methodologies and background information necessary to gain a deeper understanding of the messages and applications of the books of the Old Testament.  The Old Testament can often be neglected in our personal Bible studies because we don’t understand the context and because we are farther removed from the events and culture of that time.  Some may think that it does not apply to us today, only the New Testament is pertinent.  Yet, it is two thirds of the Bible!  Though it is not “law” for us today, it is still God’s Word.  There is a reason God left the books of the OT for us.  Students will learn how to properly interpret the various genres of the Old Testament including narrative, poetry, law, apocalyptic, proverbs, songs and prophecy.  Students will also learn about the usage of Old Testament texts, concepts, and ideas in the New Testament and how Jesus is present throughout the OT.
